The Australian duo Knife Party, which started as a side project consisting of Pendulum front-man Rob Swire and bassist Gareth McGrillen, has become a big name in the EDM scene over the past year. Already having much success as the group Pendulum, Knife Party has brought to the industry an almost experimental genre of music, fusing both electro and dubstep together into what they like to call “seizure music.” Their first EP, 100% No Modern Talking, has been wildly successful, and they even gave it away for free! Included on that EP was the track everyone knows, Internet Friends, which has gotten support by almost everyone in the industry, including some of the biggest names like Tiesto and Skrillex. Also, their most recent release, a remix to Labrinth’s Last Time, has received support from members of the Swedish House Mafia.
Now we get the release of Knife Party’s next EP called Rage Valley off of the Ear Storm and Big Beat labels. Included on this EP are four huge tracks that we heard some samples of during Knife Party’s set at the 2012 Ultra Music Festival. First up on the EP is the amazing track Centipede. Using an intense voice-over about centipedes, building up the suspense of the track, results in a huge drop with some dubstep sounds that will drive the club wild. Rage Valley has a more electro feel, once again using some funny vocals, leading into a crazy dubstep drop, with a nice electronic melody that follows. Sleaze is a more electro sounding track, with some Knife Party style wobbles in the drop. Last but not least is Bonfire, a track which impressively includes the sounds of a variety of instruments, like trumpets and pianos, all while keeping that dubstep feel.
Rage Valley shows off Knife Party’s talent of producing a variety of different tracks, and it’s no surprise they have quickly become such a big name in the EDM scene. Check out Rage Valley today off of Ear Storm and Big Beat Records!
