The electro duo Knife Party’s third EP Haunted House was released today on Earstorm/Big Beat Records, and with it we get the release of the highly anticipated tracks Power Glove, LRAD, EDM Death Machine, but most of all, we finally see the release of their long-awaited VIP version of Internet Friends!
A few months ago, we first heard the preview of Power Glove, a mock of Nintendo’s most failed video game peripheral, but this dance floor devastator is far from a failure with it’s charging melody, gospel-like vocal, and raging electro. LRAD is something a lot more tame and different than what we are used to hearing from Knife Party, with a softer melodic break and almost minimal drop, but with electro effects and bounce that will still have everyone moving, this track would surely be the calm before the storm in a Knife Party set. EDM Death Machine is an attention grabbing track that calls for an end to dropping the bass, the Harlem Shake, and even Internet Friends; after some robotic sound effects that prep this EDM Death Machine for war, we get the an awesome melody that leads us back into the electro frenzy build-up of this powerful track.
The final track on the Haunted House EP is one we’ve all been waiting for for almost a year: the VIP version of Knife Party’s breakthrough hit, Internet Friends! Previewed around the same time as the original mix’s release with 100% No Modern Talking, Internet Friends (VIP) uses the same build-up we all know and love, but after a somewhat different “You’ve blocked me on Facebook…” line, we get the insane, heavy-hitting and destructive drop that can only be found in the VIP version, and the second drop after the break is even more powerful, making this track a much harder version that might leave an even more lasting impression over the original.
