Deadmau5 is a name that needs no introduction, yet surprisingly enough, it is very rarely that we get an actual record release from this superstar producer. Only a few weeks ago did we hear a radio edit of his latest track The Veldt on Pete Tong’s Essential Mix, and already it is released! What started as some playing around in his new studio during a live Ustream with Deadmau5 resulted in his latest masterpiece, The Veldt, off of his Mau5trap label. Inspired by the Rad Bradbury short story of the same name, Deadmau5 did a talent search via Twitter to find some ideas for vocals that tied in with the theme of the original story. Chris James, a talented vocalist, had created the perfectly fitting vocals as heard on the track, and thus The Veldt came to life.

The Veldt is a progressive house anthem, already proven as an emotional track that the fans love at Deadmau5’s shows, yet it is quite different from what we are used to hearing from Joel Zimmerman. Compared to huge electro house bangers like the recently released Maths, or spacey progressive tracks like Aural Psynapse, The Veldt is on a completely different plane. The amount of different custom sounds in The Veldt, including the break in the middle of the track, really shows how much effort and time go into Deadmau5’s tracks, and it is because of this we rarely see releases, as we have still yet to see the release of the track Professional Griefers. This might be the year of the Mau5, as Zimmerman stated it will be a big studio year for him (which has been somewhat proven already) during his guest spot on Swedish House Mafia’s BBC Radio 1 Takeover.

We can’t wait to hear more new stuff from Deadmau5, possibly including his next studio album, during the next few months! In the meantime, check out The Veldt, courtesy of Mau5trap, today!
