Steve Angello Announces His New Record Label X

As Swedish House Mafia sealed their fate by finishing their One Last Tour at this year’s Ultra Music Festival, a new beginning has already emerged for Size Records head honcho and mafia boss Steve Angello! While Size is staying hot with monthly banger releases, it has been revealed that Steve Angello has started yet another label called X, in respect to Size Records 10 Year Anniversary, and this promising new label is bringing us all something fresh and different!

X, it’s a new era and it’s the ten years of SIZE. X has been something I’ve had in my head for a very long time. Creativity it gives freedom, fuel and new life” – Steve Angello

Keeping true to his word, the first release off of Steve Angello’s new label is a two-sided EP from California native Trent Cantrelle called Nice & Close, and it’s something quite different than we are used to hearing out of the Size catalog. The first track, the self-titled Nice & Close, is straight house, with a soothing melodic build and vocal top-line, leading into a peak time drop unlike a progressive banger but will have the crowd moving just the same. Understand is a bit more on the tech house side, keeping a funky groove and vibe throughout, perfect for building up a set.

The label is promising to keep things deeper and techier, a far-cry from the progressive/electro banger style that is Size, and it really shows that Steve Angello has always been more of a true artist and producer than some have admitted; for those who know him just as the Swedish House Mafia alumni known for sold out shows and spectacles, the doubters should really check out his recent Essential Mix on Pete Tong’s BBC 1 for a real taste of his versatility as an artist – wow! Even with the end of Swedish House Mafia, there has been no slowing down for Angello with his new project as well as the ever-busy Size label, with the recent massive release of Moguai’s Champs and the upcoming Ivan Gough vs. Stevie Mink & Steve Bleas collab slated to release next week called Boom.

Have a listen to the previews below of the first release coming soon on X!
