Laidback Luke W/ Mike Bugout @ HQ Nightclub Recap

House4DJ recently had the chance to see Laidback Luke at one of New Jersey’s latest and greatest nightclubs, HQ, at the Revel Resort in Atlantic City! This was our first visit to HQ Nightclub, and the impressive big room left us only wanting more after seeing Laidback Luke and opening DJ Mike Bugout smash it! Read on for our first impressions and highlights of the night!

Laidback Luke

When first entering HQ, you can’t help but notice the sheer size of the venue. The elevated DJ booth is surrounded by state of the art screens and intelligent lighting that moves to the music, creating either a dark atmosphere for the opening DJ while warming the club up to the bright, fully illuminated spectacle that takes place while the headliner is on. The classic dance floor is a pit directly in front and below the DJ booth, with elevated levels surrounding it on all sides for VIP/table service, including a second floor mezzanine that’s open to all.  The sound system is loud and clear, and the confetti cannons are an exciting sight to behold. The crowd is also extremely versatile, as the nightclub is located in the heart of the Revel casino.

Mike Bugout

Setting off the night during this Memorial Day Weekend blowout was upcoming DJ/producer Mike Bugout, who kept the tone right with some of this hottest house tracks of the summer. Bugout’s personal mash-ups like Cedric Gervais’ Summertime Sadness remix vs. John Dish’s Karmma and Abel Ramos & Raul Cremona’s Puma  mashed up with the acapella of Daft Punk’s latest Get Lucky had the crowd singing and screaming. Towards the end of his set, Bugout dropped some heavy progressive bombs, like the Axwell anthem Center Of The Universe and Sebjak & Marcus Schossow’s Liceu, as well as a mash-up of Hardwell’s Three Triangles vs Daddy’s Groove Stellar acapella. Rounding off his set with some banging tracks like Erick Morillo, Harry RomeroJose Nunez, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano’s Jungle Blood and Roul & Doors Melody In Harmony had the crowd ready for Laidback Luke!

Laidback Luke 1

The MixMash master Laidback Luke kept it straight house in the beginning with tracks like Chiuso by Nouveau Yorican, his duo side project with DJ/producer wife Gina Turner. Soon after Luke started wowing the crowd with electro bombs like LCK & JD 909’s Da Funk (Uberjak’d Remix) followed by the recent Uberjak’d MixMash record Bump DatLaidback Luke also dropped some fan favorites like Gregor Salto’s Azumba and Green Velvet’s Flash (Nicky Romero Remix).

Laidback Luke 2

Keeping his set diverse as always, Laidback Luke threw some hip-hop into the mix like Terror Squad’s Lean BackDMX’s Party Up, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ Thrift Shop. The crowd never stopped moving, and they were able to keep up with Luke’s limitless energy, especially when he dropped his own original records like his timeless remix to Wynter Gordon’s Dirty Talk and the Timebomb acapella mashed up with Calvin Harris’ Awooga.

Overall, Laidback Luke Mike Bugout at HQ was a perfect way to end a massive Memorial Day Weekend, and we can’t wait to visit the nightclub again! Although we didn’t have the chance to check out the day party at HQ Beach Club, it is safe to say that with a versatile line-up of some of the world’s biggest DJs, from superstars like Armin van Buuren and Tiesto, underground legends like Roger Sanchez and Victor Calderone, and upcoming young talent like dBerrie and Bambi, that HQ Nightclub and Beach Club are the places in New Jersey to be!
